How would you describe your style of wedding photography?
We consider our style to be a romantic, modern twist on classic storytelling wedding photography. Our images are vibrant and lightly edited for a sophisticated, beautiful look that is timeless.
Our photography style is a mix of photojournalism, editorial and creative styles. All of these types of photos tell the wedding story! Please make sure you've evaluated our work and look for the photos that really stand out to you. We'll ask you more about what photos you're drawn to during our experience together! where will you travel to photograph weddings? do you charge travel fees or mileage?
Our "home" base area is the greater Minneapolis-St. Paul / Twin Cities metropolitan area. Our studio is located in Delano, MN (55328) and we travel all around Minnesota and western Wisconsin for a majority of our weddings. For local weddings in the Twin Cities area, we include the first 50 miles of travel from 55328 in all collections. After that, we charge a simple, flat rate of $5 per 10 miles.
Getting married outside of Minnesota? We LOVE to travel and accept several wedding commissions around the country every year. We'll happily go wherever your wedding travels will take you and would be happy to discuss your destination wedding needs. We do book our own travel (air + hotel + rental car + per diem for food) and simply invoice you for the costs (Laura was previously a seasoned business traveler and still has lots of rewards and knows how to find the best deals!). We're happy to give you a free estimate of travel costs if you're interested in our destination wedding photography services.
who is actually photographing our wedding? Do we get a second photographer?
Laura will always be the primary photographer for your event. If you choose to have a second photographer, it will nearly always be Nathan, Laura's husband (a seasoned photographer and also a FEARLESS photographer, like Laura). We may choose to bring an assistant along (may or may not assist with photography) as well.
Here at LRP, we do photograph almost all of our weddings as a husband and wife team. Most of the wedding collections offered include a second photographer. This not only adds to the total photos that you'll receive, but also helps create a more holistic view of your day. Laura is always the lead photographer and will be solely responsible for capturing your day. Nathan is responsible for capturing alternate angles, candid moments, etc.
how far in advance do you book weddings?
Most of our weddings are booked 10-15 months in advance. We will accept booking up to 18 months in advance. However, we also accept a fair number of "last minute" wedding photography bookings, based on availability.... the shortest time span between booking and wedding day that we've encountered was 8 DAYS. Yes! And one of our favorite weddings ever!
What is your pricing?
Every wedding is different, every couple wants different things, and we truly believe in helping you to create the perfect collection, based on what you want - coverage options, albums, wall art, and more. We would love to create a custom quote just for you!
We want you to enjoy your wedding day, not constantly look at the clock! That's why we choose to offer full-day, event-based coverage instead of hourly coverage. From the finishing touches of "Getting Ready" through your Traditional First Dances, we want to document your day in the most authentic, beautiful way possible.
We also offer several "complete" collections that include Heirloom albums, as well as numerous upgrade and add-on options to suit your needs. Pricing may vary based on number of photographers, location of wedding, peak season (May-December) vs non-peak season (January-April), upgrade options such as albums, bridal portraits, rehearsal coverage, newlywed portraits, wall canvas groupings, and more.

Do we get the digital files for our wedding photos?
YES! High-resolution digital files are included with all wedding collections. The files can be viewed in the beautiful online gallery or downloaded (individually or the whole wedding!) through the gallery. Also included are the print rights to your photos. We do offer professional prints at very reasonable prices, however, you will be able to print wherever you choose. We try to make this as easy as possible for all of us! Even your family and friends can download their favorites and have prints made. We really truly believe in making it easy to share these memories with those you love.
what is your experience with photographing weddings?
We have been photographing weddings professionally since 2011, and Laura first started taking photos back in 2002 (including as the editor of her high school newspaper!). We've worked over 170+ wonderful couples and families and it is such an honor when we are asked back to photograph other siblings weddings, bridal party members' weddings, and anyone else connected to our previous LRP couples (including maternity/newborn/family sessions for past clients!). We treasure every story we get to tell and we truly do care about capturing your day beautifully and authentically.
do you have insurance? backup gear? what if it rains, snows, etc?
Absolutely, we are fully insured, and we’ll be happy to provide your venue with a proof of coverage.
No matter what comes our way on a wedding day, we come prepared! We also have a complete set of professional-grade backup equipment. We photograph with Nikon professional equipment exclusively and we are prepared for rain, snow, etc. However, you might want to have some umbrellas, mittens, boots, etc.

how many photos will we receive from our wedding?
All weddings will receive a minimum of 500 images, but we average 800-1100 images, depending on the length of the wedding day, number of details, locations involved, size of bridal party, etc. We don't limit the photos you'll receive, and we carefully curate your images to include all of the photos that meet our professional standards.
Not only will you receive all delivered images in color, you will also receive a black + white copy of every image as well!
How long after the wedding will it be before we receive our photos from our wedding?
Due to the individual attention we give every single photograph, it does actually take time to edit and deliver your images! Also, there may be several other weddings awaiting editing that took place prior to your wedding date; we edit on a "first come, first served" basis, although we give special priority to our birth, newborn and proposal clients, due to the time-sensitive nature of those images.
During our "peak" summer/fall wedding season, it may take 8-12 weeks for us to deliver the full gallery. During slower periods, it may be as quick as 2-3 weeks. All weddings will be delivered within 90 days from the event date. We know how excited you will be to see these images, so when your images are ready, you'll be the very first to know -- we cannot WAIT to share them with you! Do we have to buy prints from you? Do we get a print release so we can print our own photos?
You do not need to purchase photo prints from us -- however, we do offer professional, archival-quality prints at very affordable prices so that our clients do not need to print cheap-quality prints from a local retail store. All wedding galleries do include a personal print release for their wedding images. The best way to preserve your memories is to invest in professional prints.
we saw your heirloom albums and canvasses. how can we order keepsakes for ourselves?
If you are interested in one of our gorgeous heirloom albums or photo books, wall canvasses, metal wall prints or any other large keepsake, please contact us directly and we'll be happy to give you our current pricing and show you samples. We may live in a digital age, but the best way to preserve your memories is to print and display them!
Do you include engagement sessions in your collections?
YES! All of our wedding collections include a complimentary 20 minute mini engagement session near our studio in Delano. We believe that this is a very special and important part of the wedding process, and we think of it more like a "getting to know you while we take some awesome photos" session than anything else. Think of it as a stress-free, fun way to practice before the wedding day and learn a few tricks to looking and feeling natural and excited in front of the camera.
If you prefer a custom engagement session, we also offer a deluxe 2 hour adventure engagement session at a location of your choice with unlimited outfits and complimentary wardrobe + style consultation. Contact us for details!
What if we feel super awkward in front of the camera? We don't know how to pose!
Every single photo you see on our website is a REAL PERSON -- not a model! So don't you worry... sometimes posing feels a little awkward, but it's literally our job to make you look AWESOME! Most people are not professional models and do feel somewhat awkward and uncomfortable at the idea of taking photos professionally. We will happily guide you through some basic, natural posing options and help you to relax and enjoy yourselves in front of our cameras! It is our job to help you look and feel awesome in our engagement and wedding photos, and if you trust us, we can make you look amazing!
What kind of camera equipment do you use?
We exclusively use all professional grade Nikon equipment with our cameras and also professional lighting equipment when necessary. We have backup cameras and memory cards, and shoot with "dual slots", which means that for every photo we shoot, we immediately have a backup second copy. We use natural light when that works best, and soft flash "off camera" during low-light portions of your day, generally during your reception. OK! Let's do this! How do we hire you?!?!
We're thrilled you'd like to work with us! First, we will confirm whether we're available for your wedding date. Then we will send you our exclusive "get to know you" online questionnaire that we send to all prospective clients to get a brief overview of who you are, your wedding plans so far and just a general overview of your personalities. It's important that your vision and our style fit one another - this is the biggest day of your life! We want you to feel excited to work with us! We would love to be a part of your celebration, and we will first work together to ensure we're the right fit.
Next, we will chat and get to know one another even better during a 20 minute phone call or Skype session -- or if you're local to MN, we'd love to invite you to visit us at our Delano, MN (55328) studio, located about 35 minutes west of Minneapolis. During this initial consultation, we'll also help you create a custom collection, share our heirloom samples with you and go over our contract together.
We're also a 100% paperless studio (on the business side of things). All of our client quotes, questionnaires, contracts and invoicing is done through our online studio. Once you sign your digital contract and pay your retainer, you are officially a client of Laura Robinson Photography and your wedding date will be booked exclusively with us! Hurray!
Please note: we do not "hold" dates, as many clients are often vying for the same, popular weekend wedding dates, especially Saturdays between May and October. We require a signed contract AND paid, nonrefundable booking retainer of $1500 to secure your date with us and formally add you to our calendar.
