Proposal Location: Rice Park + Wells Fargo WinterSkate in Downtown St. Paul, MN
Caitlyn and Joe met in the summer of 2013 on a study abroad trip to Spain. They began dating after the returned to college in the fall and have been inseparable since!
Joe knew Caitlyn's love for figure skating... she had been skating most of her life. He wanted to propose to her on the ice at the WellsFargo Winterskate in downtown St. Paul during the St. Paul Winter Carnival.
Realizing how many people would be there, he decided to walk with her to the nearby Rice Park across the street from the skating rink. Rice Park is fully decorated with a fairytale landscape of twinkle lights during the holiday season through the end of the Winter Carnival in early February. Joe knew this was the perfect setting for asking Caitlyn to be his wife.
After a slow stroll through the park at sunset (and still NO suspicion on Caitlyn's part), Joe stopped under the twinkle lights and street lamps and got down on one knee. A very excited Caitlyn said YES!
We then strolled the park taking a few engagement photos and then headed to the tunnels of the St. Paul Skyway to escape the cold for a few more photos...
But Joe still had one more surprise for his bride-to-be.... Joe and Caitlyn's parents were waiting for them at Kincaid's in downtown St. Paul to celebrate their engagement! Lots of hugs and congrats as the families sat down for an evening of celebration!
